At this time, all software development that we do requires that your computers have the .NET framework on them. XP and Vista computers already have these installed.

Custom software costs considerably more than software that you buy off the shelf. The reason is that custom software can't (for the most part) be resold to others, so the entire cost of development is passed on to you; whereas with off the shelf software is designed for thousands or millions of users so the development cost is spread out amongst them.

There are several advantages to custom designed software (in general):

• It does exactly what you want
• It can be installed on one, or a million PCs without needing additional licenses (or cost)
• It comes with the source code, so anyone can make changes or bug fixes
• It can have your logo at startup/on forms, giving it a more professional look

Some small businsses would benefit from custom software more than others, such as:
